Academics

At Highland School of Technology, students have access to a wide variety of courses that help prepare them for college, careers, and life after graduation. Students complete courses in one of three academies: Health Sciences; Business, Legal, and Information Sciences; and Manufacturing/Engineering Technology and Graphics.

We offer challenging Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the Career and College Promise (CCP) program, which lets students earn college credit while still in high school. Students can also take online classes through Gaston Online and the North Carolina Virtual Public School.

In addition to core subjects, students can explore their interests through classes in Art, Band, Chorus, Theater, and Foreign Languages.

Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program offers real-world learning in areas such as:

  • Internships and Apprenticeships
  • Accounting, Marketing, and Microsoft Excel
  • Adobe Creative Tools
  • Business Essentials and Financial Planning
  • Health Sciences, Biomedical Technology, Dental Science, and Nursing Fundamentals
  • Cisco Network Engineering, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Cybersecurity, and Python Programming
  • Engineering Technology
  • 3D Modeling, Animation, and Game Art and Design

With so many options, every student has the chance to find a path that fits their goals and passions.
